Hmm

I don't know what to call this post :P

I've painted one hand again, leopard print this time, hopefully manage to do the other hand before this one chips off.
Been revising maths this weekend, only got 4 exams left!! (maths apps 1, chem 1, phys 1, maths apps 2)
Also I've been listening to my music really closely and decided I want to learn the bass. My relative in Canada has one so it looks like I'll be getting his old bass at some point :D
Next weekend I'm going to the good food and gardeners world show. I go for the shopping and good food (they have 4 years matured cheddar!), going with mum for her birthday and taking my friend and aunty. Might take my proper camera and photograph plants.

Nails

Painted my nails for the first time in ages the other day, quite pleased with how they turned out, but I only had time to do one hand so it looks a little strange. They're not the neatest I've ever done but it has been a few months :P

Bored!

Ok, so, last night was my school's year eleven prom, I didn't go (don't really enjoy meals or dancing or dressing up). Today I'm "revising" then walking the dog then when my aunty arrives I'll have to be civilized and talk to her :P
I say revising, I mean listening to music (Fall Out Boy, Green Day, James Blunt, MIKA, The Hoosiers, Bastille) attempting to do a past paper and either failing miserably or coming out with an A/A*.
Anyway my facebook today is quite busy with peoples prom pictures, sometimes I wonder why I have these people as my friends.

Effectively I'm sat at home with music.

Owl Bunting Tutorial! :P

Ok so quite a while ago, I went to my aunties house and she taught me how to make these adorable little owls. They are actually bunting but I used them to decorate my sewing chest, I'm planning on making a sewing themed cushion to go on the top but haven't got round to it as my GCSE's are starting in 2 weeks!

To start with, choose your fabric, any fabric will do although silk and elastane are quite hard to sew on a machine (or so I've been told!), ideally 2 colours/patterns.
Now draw around the template onto both pieces of fabric. The longer sides are 13cm, the shorter sides are 7cm and the base is 6cm. The point is 17.5cm from the centre of the base and the widest part measures 13cm across. (I used sturdy old card as I made a few owls but paper is fine).

 Pin all the sides carefully.

Sew all the edges, if you sew right to the corners you will get a more squareish owl whereas rounded corners make a round owl. The point is the best place to start and end as it is strengthened with the repeated stitches.
Carefully cut a hole through one side of fabric. This side will make up the body and the other will be the head and beak.
Turn the fabric the right way out through the hole.
Once the fabric has been turned the right way out it should look like this. Then pin a piece of wadding over the hole in the front fabric.
Sew the wadding in place with the ribbon at the base sticking out. Zig-zag stitch looks best for this.
Pin the point down, so it slightly overlaps the wadding then sew a triangle of black felt on the point to secure the head in place. This is best hand sewn, it may be thick but machine sewing leaves holes.

Pin two white felt circles on to the head where the fabrics meet. Again had sewing is best for this as the machine needle's holes are visible on the eyes. Then sew small buttons in the centre of the felt circles, different coloured thread looks cute.

Finally tie loose knots in the ribbon ends to form feet!
I had a bit of a sewing day and made all of these.
I strung some embroidery thread through the hole above the eyes to hang them up.
(the grey blob on my bed is the dog, cheeky boy)

Play with me.

Today I was trying to do homework whilst my dog was trying to play with me. It was sooooo cute. He put the tennis ball on my back, it rolled off then he kept putting it back. Then he gave up and left it near my work and wandered off.

Homework and Dog Training

Today I have to do some textiles coursework and some more agility training whilst waiting for my Christmas present to arrive from my dad in Canada. I may also make some peanut butter cookies and use my new cookie cutters. If I do expect a post later!!
